Hope Church is a special place to us as it was the first church Sam attended as a born-again believer. As a high-schooler, before he knew the Lord, Sam performed in "The Hope of Christmas" and God used that to lead him to Hope when he needed a church to attend in his hometown. Later, he was able to serve there as a youth leader. Then, as a family, Hope Church has been a part of us fulfilling God's calling as missionaries preaching the gospel in global cities (Rome, Italy and New York City) to those who might not have an opportunity to hear about Him otherwise. The Leopolds have been blessed greatly by Hope’s financial support, allowing us to be able to serve on the frontlines in ministry.

Our daughters grew in faith through their youth group experiences, and our oldest met her husband at Hope Church. Now our two grandchildren are enjoying the Kids’ Ministry. We see our investment in the InsideOut campaign now as an investment in our grandchildren's growth in faith and knowing Jesus.

Years of faithful prayer and support have led to thousands of our patients all over the world coming to faith in Jesus Christ. From providing Caring Partners with mission team travelers, volunteers, missionaries, and ministry leaders, Hope Church has expanded God’s Kingdom. Our words to Hope Church are the same as those shared to us by our Spanish-speaking patients during our medical clinics – “solo Dios lo paga” – only God can repay!

Knowing there are friends who care for us, pray for us, and believe in us is incredibly encouraging. God is blessing the WORLD through Hope Church and our ministry to International Students! Let me share with you how. Hope has supported our ministry to International Students since 2004! A long history! I want to share with you that we have seen over 50 students come to Christ from our Friday NIght Bible Study in the last 8 years alone. Just in 2019 we had 8 new international students come to Christ!

The fruit we have seen is a direct result of the Lords working. It is evidence of His Spirit working in our world change the hearts of unbelievers. For many of these new converts, they come from countries that have never heard the gospel, have never opened a Bible, and have no idea that there is a heaven or a hope after death. Countries such as China, India, Madagascar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Ukraine, Mexico, etc. After our students attend our Friday night BIble Study(based on God's Word), then our volunteers begin to also meet one to one to study the Bible deeper. It is in these one to one meetings we see students come to Christ and we are able to disciple them and then send them to the world to share the light around the world.

Here are three stories to show how this is working. I am using letters to protect their identies of students from China as there is much persecution happening among believers there.

Y: Y, a chinese girl, began to meet one to one with one of our faithful volunteers, Cynthia and soon came to Christ and began to be disipled. She brought several new girls to our group, and many of them also came to Christ and were discipled. When Corona Virus hit they all had to return to China. Yi has helped lead a bible study, at great risk to herself) in her country that meets EVERY MORNING online to study the Bible and to pray! Despite intense persecution in her country these young believers have only grown in their faith and are inviting others to join with them.

H: Another young man from China came into our group a few years ago. A Volunteer named Jim began to meet with him to study the Bible one to one. After a few years, Hao became a Christian. He was baptized here in Cincinnati! He now lives in California. He has become a leader in his chinese church even leading the worship! This past year he married a Christian girl at his church! His parents came to the wedding and BAM....CORONA VIRUS HIT! His parents were "trapped" in America unable to return due to the Virus. In the 8 months they were here, Hao and his wife witnessed to his parents and introduced them to their church community. They BOTH became believers and were baptized. They recently returned to China and need our prayers!

Andrew Yim: A Korean student, Andrew came to live with us 6 years ago. In his first coming our group to learn God's word, he came to Christ and began to be disicpled. He faithfully helped with our group for 4 years and then when he graduated from UC grew into a leader at the Korean Church, leading the evangelism ministry! He recently (this past January he has finished his initial training and is now support raising) joined our staff team with ISI. (International Students, Inc). Now the boy who came to Christ will be reaching other international students!!! Praise be to our LORD!

Can you see how God builds up fruit that will LAST! I do. These are hard times right now with Corona Virus seeming to battle us at every point. We welcome your prayers for us and the wonderful support of Hope Church. Hope encourages us to press on and has unswervingly been committed to bringing the nations to Christ.
